KITTIES!!!!!!

Loki (Norse God of, well.......... trouble)

Loinn (Scots-Galica for "Grace", as in manners.)

That's right, they have names now. Not the best photos, but they are cute. Loinn is the girl, she is also the smaller of the two. Loki is the male, and he is SUCH a troublemaker! Somehow my mom convinced my dad that we needed to keep them.

I took them to the vet on Monday to have them looked at. Between them they weigh less then 4 pounds, skinny lil' suckers. No fleas, some earmites and other stuff. Got meds for them, and they can both open their eyes now (their eyes are green, not that you can tell in the photos).

The thing that keeps pissing me off about this is that they are litter trained. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that I don't have to litter train them. However, the fact that they are trained already means that they learned it from their mother. So many things about them point to the idea that they were house cats and someone took them and dumped then as soon as they were weaned.

Oh well. At least now they have a good home, and lots of loveins'.

Just a quick post

I went to ciao to pick up my last two paychecks today. As I was walking back out to my car, I saw two kittens in the back of the parking lot. Now, those of you who know me well know that I can't just see kittens and let them be. Nope, kittens are WAY too cute. So I go over to see how they are and, well..... it was not good. Both of them had eye infections and their eyes were so gunked up that they could barely open them. They looked to be about 6 weeks old, and were pretty much skin and bones. I felt so sorry for them that I just had to bring them home. They have been fed and we put some stuff in their eyes that should help to clear it up. I'm going to take them to the vet as soon as I can to make sure they don't have any more problems. They don't have fleas, which is great news, but they just look so sad that I need to have them looked at by someone who can tell me how they are.

So yeah, long day. Hopefully they'll still be alive in the morning.

God am I tired.

Swing life away

Yesterday was one of those days that you just want to go on forever. It started out with me going to work at the canal boat. It was all hot and sticky, but the day went fast and we had some good groups on board, so it was a nice afternoon. After we closed up the boat and got changed, Matt, Angie, and I decided to walk across the Maumee River so we could get some ice cream. Why walk across the river? Because it was there. Also, we were all hot and the cool water seamed nice. We got some ice cream in Grand Rapids and sat there for a bit before we headed back. Sadly, I ended up losing the most awesome pair of sunglasses I have ever owned. Dang, those were some sweet shades. Now I am on a mission to find some that are equally as, if not more awesome, as the one pair. Anyway, we ate the marvelous ice cream and headed back across the river. On the way back Angie fell on her butt, Matt almost fell on his face, and I got a tiny piece of shell in my foot. You may be thinking "Why was this such a great day?" Well, I'll tell you why. We are all Red Cross certified in first aid, and since we don't get to use our training much, we had a good time practicing our talents on my poor foot. It was kind of a "you had to be there" afternoon, but it was a lot of fun.

I came home afterwards, got a shower, and had dinner. Since it was so nice out I decided to go out and lay in my backyard for a bit. I grabbed a couple of blankets, my CD player, and (hehe) a little bit of wine I had left. I went out to behind the garden so I wouldn't be affected by the lights on the other side of the street. I pop on my headphones and lay back to watch the stars. (side note. Joe, I can not thank you enough for my copy of "Still" by Nine Inch Nails. It is one of the best CD's ever!). So, I'm laying there sipping wine and listening to my CD while looking up at the stars. Perfect, no? It was nice to just lay there and hang out for a bit, I haven't had much down time lately. I did that for about an hour and went back inside all relaxed.

I decided to turn in early, having work in the morning and all. When I crawled into bed I had one of those "I'm so comfy I can't stop moving" moments. I'm pretty sure I fell asleep with a smile on my face. How could I not? With so few days of summer left, I plan to savor every moment I can. Fall begins on the 22nd, so I have a little more then a week to live it up and blame summer for the silliness.

Ok, seriously. This CD fucking ROCKS!

A little mind game for you.....

I found this on Quizilla. It's a little basic psych working on ya, but I found it kinda cool. No, I won't tell you my answers. But they were pretty spot on.

DO NOT CHEAT (You will kick yourself later) I was a little skeptical trying this, but if you follow the instructions to the "t" you'll be surprised. This game has a funny/spooky outcome.

Don't read ahead...just do it in order! It takes about three minutes...it's worth a try. First..get a pen and paper. When you actually choose names, make sure it's people you actually know and go with your first instinct. Scroll down one line at a time...and don't read ahead or you'll ruin it!

1. First, write the numbers 1 through 11 in a column.

2. Then, beside numbers 1 and 2, write down any two numbers you want.

3. Beside the 3 and 7, write down the names of members of the opposite sex.

NO LOOKING AHEAD...OR IT WON"T TURN OUT RIGHT!

4. Write anyone's name (like friends or family....) in the 4th, 5th, and 6th spots.

5. Write down four song titles in 8, 9, 10, and 11.

GO WITH YOUR INSTINCT PEOPLE!!!!

6. Finally, make a wish

And now the key for the game.....

1. You must tell (the number in space 2) people about this game.

2. The person in space 3 is the one that you love.

3. The person in 7 is one you like but can't work out.

4. You care most about the person you put in 4.

5. The person you name in number 5 is the one who knows you very well.

6. The person you name in 6 is your lucky star.

7. The song in 8 is the song that matches with the person in number 3.

8. The title in 9 is the song for the person in 7.

9. The tenth space is the song that tells you most about YOUR mind.

10. and 11 is the song telling you how you feel about life.

And no, I really don't have anything better to do on a Friday night.

Foggy mornings

Lab Boy made a post last night about love and hate. This may not seem like a big deal to anyone, but it made me think. I have a good idea of what I hate (close-mindedness, suffering, being cold, hangovers, etc...) but what do I really love? Family, it goes without saying (also on the hate list sometimes), friends, a really good book, conversation, sleep, and cake. But what makes me get up in the morning? What keeps me going on those days that seem like a Hell on Earth that will never end?

I thought about it as I was going to bed, and again when I got up to go to work. I was at the boat today, had to be there at 8:30 am. It was foggy on the drive down, and was still so after I got changed into my period (1876) dress and went down to the dock. I pass under the modern bridge to get to the boat and I see something that makes my heart stop.

The boat is sitting there, tied to the dock, underneath the old iron bridge. The canal water is smooth as glass, the only ripples are caused by the first dropping leafs of fall. The fog is swirling around everything, giving it a ghostly feel as the sun breaks over the trees. There are no cars around, no power lines, no noise of any kind for this one moment. It was like something out of a dream. It was so beautiful and serene that it made my mind stop for just a little bit as I watched it unfold. Then I had my answer.

I love the moments that make you stop in your tracks. The things that you see that makes your soul hurt because they are so beautiful that you almost can't stand it. Those precious seconds are what make me wake up every morning, and help to keep me going. I once wanted to be a photographer so I could share these moments with others, hoping they would see what I saw. Someone else might not get what I did, might not feel what I do for these things, because they might see it as just a photo. This is more then that, more then a mere image. It is something deep inside of me that is mine alone. You can all look at it, but it is not your love, it is not the passion that keeps you going.

I love the things that are so absurd they make you laugh harder then you thought you ever could. I love looking at the stars on a clear night and feeling small compared to what we don't yet know. I love reading a book on a rainy day, or dancing outside in the rain. In short, I love to feel. I live for it. The range of emotions that we poses makes us what we are. I need to feel to be a whole person, to be me.

I think that's enough for today. I almost can't wait to get up tomorrow now. Almost. Sleep was also on the "love" list.
