What If?

What if
We could dance on air
Twisting cartwheels in currents unseen
Whips of nothing at our fingers
Angels music in our heads.....

What if
We'd dance a dream of flying things
Till the stars turn blue
Clouds about our knees
Swirling without a care

What if
There was only time
Just the thought of you and I
A touch, a kiss
I'd dance on air all over again

Never Coming Home

Wooden bones
Laid bare by careful hands
Stripped of lath and plaster
Naked for the world

Protective skin
Paneling of oak and birch
Lays cracked and broken
Outside an open door

Pathway to the heart
Carpet torn and dirtied
Not just by tiny hands
An effort to make it stronger

Make it newer
Paint it over
Change the face
But keep the soul

Skin of drywall
Covers the same bones
Wooden supports of love
A frame of home
